 COURTESY VISIT OF THE COORDINATOR, NDCOWA TO THE PRESIDENT, DEPOWA

On Wednesday, 29th April 2026, the President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Mernan Femi-Oluyede, received the Coordinator of the National Defence College Officers’ Wives Association (NDCOWA), Mrs Hauwa Ahmed, on a courtesy visit.

The visit was aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and reinforcing the existing relationship between both associations. It further underscored their shared commitment to promoting unity, welfare, and empowerment among members. The engagement also provided an opportunity for the NDCOWA Coordinator to brief the President on her achievements and outline forthcoming programmes.

The Coordinator and her entourage were warmly received by the DEPOWA President alongside members of the Executive Council.

In her remarks, Mrs Hauwa Ahmed expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded her delegation. She commended the leadership of the DEPOWA President, particularly in advancing initiatives that enhance the welfare and empowerment of officers’ wives and their families. She also extended her condolences on the passing of the President’s mother and emphasized the importance of synergy between DEPOWA and its affiliate bodies in achieving shared objectives.

In her response, Mrs Mernan Femi-Oluyede described the visit as timely and significant. She reiterated DEPOWA’s commitment to fostering collaboration with NDCOWA as an affiliate body, noting that sustained partnership remains vital for effective programme delivery and institutional growth.

Highlights of the visit included exchange of goodwill messages, discussions on areas of mutual cooperation and partnership, presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs to commemorate the visit
