PRESIDENT DEPOWA HONOURS MRS OGHOGHO MUSA FOR IMPACTFUL AND PEOPLE-CENTRED LEADERSHIP

Celebrates Her Legacy of Service, Compassion, and Institutional Growth

The Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), under the leadership of its President, Mrs. Mernan Femi Oluyede, recently hosted a Send-Forth Dinner Party in honour of its immediate past President, Mrs. Oghogho Musa, at the Armed Forces Mess, Asokoro, Abuja.

The event which took place on Tuesday, 11 January 2026, was organised to celebrate Mrs. Musa’s distinguished tenure and enduring contributions to the growth, unity, and welfare-focused vision of the Association. The evening equally provided a platform for reflection, appreciation, and reaffirmation of DEPOWA’s shared values of service, sisterhood, and continuity.

In her remarks, the DEPOWA President described Mrs. Musa’s leadership as compassionate, purposeful, and people-centred, noting that her administration strengthened family welfare initiatives, expanded women and youth empowerment programmes, enhanced social outreach, and reinforced unity across service spousal associations.

She emphasised that Mrs. Musa’s vision reflected the understanding that strong families remain the bedrock of strong institutions and a stable nation.

Responding, Mrs. Oghogho Musa expressed heartfelt appreciation to DEPOWA members for their unwavering support throughout her tenure.

She described the Association as a lifelong sisterhood founded on shared values and collective commitment rather than positions. She encouraged the current leadership to consolidate existing achievements while advancing DEPOWA’s mandate with integrity, compassion, and a focus on long-term impact.

The event was attended by several high-profile dignitaries, prominent among whom were past Presidents of DEPOWA, notably Malama Fatima Ogohi and Mrs. Omobolanle Olonisakin; the Mandate Secretary for the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Mrs. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi; Presidents and members of sister service spousal associations; senior officers’ spouses; family and friends of the immediate past DEPOWA President; and other key stakeholders.

Highlights of the event were the presentation of goodwill messages, presentation of gifts to the Celebrant, cutting of the celebratory cake and a group photograph session.
